mozart

can you tell its wolfgang when you hear it? for whatever reason, i can.
ludwig, those fucking russians or anyone else for that matter, unless it is easily recognized or i have heard it repeatedly, i have no clue.
give me two to three seconds of mozart and i go "this sounds like mozart" then i get lost in listening and forget i think i am special. it has always ended up being wolfgang.

extra lives by tom bissell
this book sucked. 183 small pages short. a few of the chapters simply described his interpretation of the gameplay for fallout3, mass effect and gta4.
the last chapters dealt with his cocaine addiction and gameplay of gta4.
sprinkled between were descriptions of meetings he had with various game developers like bleszinski, molyneux and others along with short bios. really they were magazine pieces.
the inside flap of the book describes the effort as "an impassioned defense of this (video games) assailed and misunderstood art form". what a crock of shit.
the dude is a weeze!
he glossed over completely first person shooters, multiplayer, sports and racing games.
i think he mentioned halo twice, spent perhaps half a page on the call of duty franchise and totally ignored pc gamers.
every few pages i said to myself "this guy is a weeze". the sub-title of the book is "why video games matter". well, he didnt tell us. not even close.
the most myopic view of video games ever contained in 183 small pages. one look at the back flap and you see the guy in his v-neck argyle sweater and i should have known he was not a true gamer.
he plays alone.
dont waste your time

saratoga springs danny meyer shake shack hatties blue smoke food at the track
its that time of year again.
sweet fancy moses saratoga was awesome with the funbag.
new blue smoke and shake shack at the track, right next to the paddock by the nelson ave/clubhouse entrance. fucking burgers are awesome, so were the ribs. shake shack has special shake: salted caramel with choc on top...out of this galaxy PLUS no lines!!!!! can you believe it? yes i can, by the end of this meet, the carolina bbq will be out of business. here is a link to see what blue smoke looks like. you can go up on top and eat, there is a bar up there with monitors and between the two stores are betting windows.
ok, cant forget hatties. now located between these two retardedly large and obnoxious signs peddling shit by the escalator. the chicken sandwich is legendary, but my fav was the watermelon wedge for $1. i hit it all weekend. mojitos in the back patio at the restaurant are a must.
downtown nothing changed much. 9 maple was the best as always tried two more of the over 100 scotches they have and got into it with a chick who stole my seat at the bar. biggest surprise was how much the hampton inn expanded across from parting glass, new rest in there, had fish tacos, they were ok.
sperrys under new ownership. outfuckingstanding food at reasonable prices. i had softshell, chowder, and 1/2 order of pasta w/bolognese ($9).
ate at prime for a wicked meal as always.
didnt hit the hay before 0300 for three consecutive nights. cant remember much from the nights except we saw the oger for a few minutes at the track and tried to hook up with him but failed. hot dog charlies everynight(morning) put four pounds back on my gut.
looking forward to hitting track with bri and brian or just mr. bri.
oh yeah, siro's is under new mangement!!!! drama and e from entourage are minority owners, but mostly its horse folk. big change, heinekens down three bucks from last year to $5. no cover, bands all the time. it was very nice.
goes without saying the talent was outstanding everywhere.
